A Story the
World Needs

After The Storm is a memoir unlike others in the military genre. It combines the credibility of a decorated combat veteran with the emotional honesty of someone who navigated the worst of PTSD and came through it with purpose. It corrects the record on Generation Kill. It speaks directly to veterans, families of veterans, and anyone who has ever wondered what war really costs.

Andrew Cahill is a compelling interview subject — direct, unfiltered, and capable of speaking to military life, mental health, family, and child protection with equal authority. He has been there. He has lived it. And he is ready to talk about it.

He is a recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Valor. Long Bio (200+ words)

Andrew Cahill was born in Natick, Massachusetts in 1982 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps immediately following his graduation from Chelmsford High School in June 2000. He completed the Basic Reconnaissance Course, earning his place in 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, Alpha Company — one of the Marine Corps' most elite units.

During the 2003 invasion of Iraq with the 1st Marine Division, Cahill served as a .50 caliber gunner, assistant team leader, and Dragon Eye UAV operator, engaging in seventeen documented combat engagements including the fighting at Nasiriyah, the push through Baghdad, and the drive north to Baqubah. He deployed again in 2004 to Fallujah, serving until his EAS. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device "V" for valor.

After separating from the Marine Corps, Cahill spent years navigating Complex PTSD, rebuilding his life, and finding purpose. He founded WiFighters After The Storm, a nonprofit applying the Recon warrior ethos to the fight against child sexual exploitation. He lives in Punta Gorda, Florida with his wife Catie and their children Carson and Callie. After The Storm is his first book.
